Real Bride | ANNA

SOMETHING . OLD

It was such a pleasure working with Anna on a very special project for her wedding. Anna had been given her Grandmother’s bridal horseshoe and wanted to reinvent it as her “something old” for her big day.

With restoration projects, I always like to start with the Bride’s vision for her big day. Anna was having an exquisite custom dress made by Pallas Couture, so we had only had sketches to work off and an idea of how she would like to wear her hair. What really brought the concept of the headpiece to life was the styling of the wedding, which was modern tropical luxe.

Many of the pearl beads in the design were too brittle to save. The ones that I could work with I ended up using delicate wire work and painting them with gold leaf to create little buds. I also brought in some gold plated tropical flowers, creating an organic comb to sit in Anna’s hair with her veil. It was a delicate and subtle nod to Anna’s Grandmother’s design and she looked absolutely incredible.

Anna removed her veil for the reception, and chose some gorgeous Christie Nicolaides earrings that worked beautifully with the comb and the styling of her reception. Congratulations Anna and Owen! Thank you for trusting me to turn your something old in to something new (and something you!) Xx
